Penguins at a Wedding

Last Saturday, I did a talk at a wedding. It was all about about penguins!

The bride’s family is especially keen on penguins, and when I found a lovely children’s book about a penguin, I knew I was on to  something….

The book is a love story and the words are here:

I like you a lot. / You’re funny and kind. / So let me explain / What I have in mind. / I want to be your personal penguin. / I want to walk right by your side. / I want to be your personal penguin. / I want to travel with you far and wide.

Did you notice the cover of the book? It says that you can download the song, sung by Davy Jones of the Monkees (RIP) – so I did, and played it to the happy couple through the church sound system. Thankfully, there were many smiles in the congregation 🙂

I spoke about love and commitment in marriage and about the love of God, who wants to walk and talk with us, know us and be close to us.

If you want to join in, you can listen to the song at this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TE_hWCK1uTA

Congratulations to the happy penguins, Annie and Jason, on their marriage!

Being Brave

I had a brave moment yesterday.

I have been putting it off and thinking I won’t do it, but I did it…I have entered my blue strippy quilt in the ‘Traditional Quilts’ competition category at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham in August. This is my first go at a national show.
